Do I have to receive vegetables every week?
You can opt for our fortnightly subscription and receive your vegetables only every other week.
Where do you deliver to?
We deliver to the Blue Mountains, Penrith, The Hills District and the Hawkesbury.
Can I pick my vegetables up from the farm?
Yes, we love it when you visit our farm. In fact, we offer a $5 discount if you come to the farm to pick up your vegetables. It is a great opportunity to see what's growing and chat to me, the farmer. The farm is located at:
170 Old Kurrajong Road, Richmond NSW 2753
Pick up time is 1-2pm Wednesday. Please review the products in our store for details.
Do you do farm gate sales and can I visit the farm anytime?
We sell to CSA members on pick up days. The rest of the time we are busy on the farm growing your vegetables. We also hold regular farm tours which are a great opportunity to see the farm. Sign up to our email newsletter to find out when they are held!
How much does it cost?
A regular sized box works out at $43/week and a large sized box works out at $63/week.
How do I pay for my share?
You can pay with PayPal, Visa, Mastercard, Amex, bank transfer and Apple Pay!
What are the seasonal on-farm events?
3 or 4 times per year we will hold an on-farm event where CSA members are invited to visit the farm and take part in a special seasonal planting or harvesting occasion. This may be planting the yearly garlic crop, harvesting pumpkins or simply a farm picnic where you can meet other like-minded CSA members and enjoy spending time on the farm.
We believe that being a part of Five Serves Produce should be more than just picking up your vegetables each week. Coming to our on-farm events lets you be part of the community and experience everything our farm has to offer.
What can I expect in my box?
A weekly share contains between 8 and 15 different vegetables depending upon the season. A typical Summer share might be full of tomatoes, garlic, lettuce, cucumbers, zucchini, beans, capsicums or eggplant. In Autumn or Winter you may receive carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, leeks and leafy greens. In Spring there might be fresh peas, baby beetroots and crisp rocket leaves, and pumpkins are often part of the autumn share. However as growing vegetables depends upon the weather, insect pressure and many other variables, it is impossible to say exactly how each crop will perform each year. That is part of belonging to a CSA and many customers say they enjoy the surprise each week of finding out what is available on the farm. Rest assured that you will always get a variety of fresh, nutritious and delicious vegetables and herbs each week.
Will there be unusual veggies?
No. We grow many popular vegetables and only have one or two less well known items each week. Most people are excited to try these few new varieties with the support of our weekly recipe ideas. In fact, some even say that this is one of the benefits of being part of the CSA – they never would have known how much they liked them if they hadn’t tried them!
What if I can’t pick up my share this week or I am going away?
If you are going away on holidays or for another reason you can have someone else pick up your share for you that week. If this isn't possible please contact us at least a week before and we may be able to defer your box by one week. If you will be away more often than this perhaps a CSA is not for you, or you should skip a season and rejoin when you return. Please send us an email to discuss this as we do try to be flexible. If you don't contact us to let us know in advance, unfortunately you will just miss that week's share.
What if I want vegetables for more than 12 weeks?
Just buy another subscription after the first one is finished. We will send you an email to remind you.
Can I try before I commit to a full subscription?
Unfortunately not, as vegetables take up to 3 months to grow before harvest, we need to know that we can sell our produce before we spend this time lovingly tending it.
However, sign up for our email newsletter to hear about our occasional farm stand, farm tours with produce sales and one-off boxes.
Can I choose what goes in my box?
Unfortunately not, as we include vegetables that are in season and at their peak, ready for harvest. You get the best of the farm each week.
However, if you grow your own herbs at home and don't want duplicates please contact us and let us know which herbs you don't want to receive in your box. Likewise if you require a particular herb just ask us by Sunday evening and if we are currently growing it we can include it in your box. Other special needs may be able to be taken into consideration within reason.
